Painting with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint {Take 1}

Hello friends!
I hope you are enjoying these last couple of weeks of summer.We sure are and gearing up
for school to start next week too. Amen! Everyone is ready even the girls, really :)
Back in June I attended Haven a DIY/home decor blogging conference. While at the
conference we received a sample of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in our swag bags, have
you ever heard of it? If not then you are going to want to check it all out.

Since I was more than scared to use ASCP I decided to try it on this thrifted stool. Your
loving it, aren't you? Not so much. My hubby picked it up for me at our local ReStore
 and paid next to nothing for it. It's small and if I mess up then I am not out much.

The two colors I started with were Paris Grey and Duck Egg.
You can't forget the wax and to be safe I went with clear this time.

Thanks to my dear friend Ange from The Blooming Hydrangea, for giving me some her awesome fabric.
Did I mention I drove six hours away to see Ange so we could paint furniture? More on that story later.
We stapled the fabric over the ugly red fabric since it still had some cushion to it. Who knows what we would have found if we took the fabric off. Doesn't it look awesome?

I am hooked on Annie Sloan and can't even wait until I get some new colors. I have a garage full of stuff
to be painted (can't resist the stuff of the side of the road).

Important Facts about Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

* ASCP can be used on almost any surface.
* No priming or sanding before you paint, just start painting.
* The paint only comes in quart size and is somewhat costly.
* It goes a long way, you'll be surprised at how far it goes.
* Annie Sloan sells waxing brushes, but the wax can also be applied with cheesecloth. saving money..
* After waxing, it takes a full 28 days to cure{just be careful}
* It's not sold in Home Improvement stores, only through AS America retailers. If you are in central Illinois and would like to try it, you can purchase it through Second Betty. She has a huge selection of colors and I can't wait to get back and see her.

Have you ever used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, if so I would love to hear all about it. I welcome any tips you might have too.

  2. I'm not much of a painter but I managed to use a whole can of Old White. I miss having it around and need to order more. I've painted a tray, the insides of my corner cabinets and a few picture frames. I have to admit I don't enjoy the waxing part. :o) Wish I could just skip it!

  3. I've just started using ASCP - from what I've used, I have learned I DO have to prime, especially with the Old White. My friend has discovered the same thing. I still love it, but I don't think you can always skip the priming, probably could get by without priming with a darker color. I do like how it goes on!

  5. Having an alluring entry door is one of the best ways to present your home, as it makes a design statement and sets the mood for your guests. Apart from being sturdy, an entry door should be well built and designed in a welcoming manner.
