Brass be gone: Fireplace makover

I know Spring is definitely in the air with the warmer temperatures
around my neck of the woods, how about you?

My fireplace has been on my "To Do" list for quite some time. Now
that I have it done I wish I would've done it sooner. My
inspiration came from Kate and the fabulous job she did here

I taped off the glass doors and painted over the brass with three coats.
For the handles, I didn't use this paint I spray painted them with a satin black.
The reason I spray painted them is because they don't absorb the heat like the doors
do when the fireplace is lit.

Side note: This paint is tough on the skin and is hard to wash off...

What do you think? Besides the fact that I cleaned the dirty glass doors, ugh!
I think it looks 100% better and the brass/gold is gone. Not that I have anything against
brassy, just not on the fireplace. Oh, I wish hubby would let me paint the brick...

Next up is the mantel
I'm looking for a creamy white color, any suggestions?

  4. I did this with my fireplace doors a few years ago and we did my daughter's last summer. Such a quick fix but with huge impact. No idea on a paint color for your mantel. I know you'll pick out something wonderful!
